Committees play an integral role in our policy work, providing a channel for municipalities to voice their priorities as well as a sounding board for us to receive feedback at early stages of our research and analysis. Accounting & Financial Reporting Committee
Mandate: Act as a wellspring of information concerning emerging issues in accounting, financial reporting and legislation.
Goal: To spot key financial issues and develop policies and solutions.
New Professionals Network Committee
Mandate: Identifying the evolving needs of new municipal finance professionals and providing expertise for professional development and networking initiatives
Goal: Identify training and networking opportunities geared towards new municipal finance staff
Professional Development Committee
Mandate: To assist MFOA in identifying the training and education needs of the membership and act as a focus group for MFOA when developing and updating training programs and conferences.
Goal: Advise and/or prepare a list of potential training initiatives to cover a three year planning period.
Research and Policy Committee
Mandate: To assist MFOA in advising MFOA staff on municipal research questions and potential policy initiatives .
Goal: Ensure MFOA research and is relevant to the sector and that findings and recommendations are practical for members.
