Ian Freeman | Assistant Deputy Minister, Provincial Local Finance Division | Ministry of Finance | Ian is currently the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Provincial Local Finance Division with
the Ministry of Finance. In this role, Ian leads the Government of Ontario’s policies,
legislation and operational initiatives related to the Province’s significant fiscal relationship with municipalities, including the property assessment and taxation framework.
Prior to this, he was the Chief Administrative Officer for the Ministry of Transportation and previously the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Integrated Policy & Planning Division. During his time in the Ontario Public Service (OPS), he has held progressive positions in transportation safety, corporate finance and transportation policy & planning. Ian has championed creative policy and regulatory development to improve safety and reduce
burden in the transportation sector while developing long term transportation and mobility plans for the province.
He is a strategic leader who has over 20 years experience in the OPS leading multi-functional teams. Ian is a strong believer in developing inclusive, high-performing public servants who provide positive outcomes for Ontarians while focusing on developing lasting positive relationships with stakeholders and partners.
